Saudi Arabia and Syria have signed a series of strategic agreements to expand civil aviation cooperation, including the launch of a new joint airline and major airport development projects. Saudi low-cost carrier flynas will partner with Syrian authorities to establish a new commercial airline, Flynas Syria, with operations expected to begin in late 2026, while plans are underway to develop and expand Aleppo International Airport’s capacity to support regional and international air traffic.
The agreements, part of broader economic cooperation between Damascus and Riyadh, also involve significant investment in telecommunications and infrastructure to strengthen connectivity and support Syria’s post-conflict recovery. Officials say the aviation initiatives are intended to enhance air links, boost tourism and trade, and create a pathway for future economic growth as part of a long-term partnership between the two countries.
